Our New Car

Check out our sweet new ride!!!

I absolutely love it!!!! It is a Nissan Armada and I have been wanting one for awhile now. It is so big and nice inside and now we can all fit into one vehicle! It will fit 8 so we have tons of room. I have had my car for 10 years and I have never really cared for it. So I am so excited about this one. I was seriously stressing out so much because once the baby gets here next week we wouldn't all be able to fit into our car. There was NO way of fitting 3 car seats in there. But now I have tons of room and I'll even have enough room to car pool to school! I was feeling so guilty every time I had to leave Kason at someones house so I could get the girls to school. But now we all fit! I just love the color of it and it is really nice inside. It is older being a 2004 and it doesn't have all extras like a tv screen or heated seats or anything but I really don't care. We watch enough tv at home that we don't need to watch it in the car. Makenna was a little disappointed about that but she got over it. Both kids like the new car too and are having way too much fun playing in it. Anyways I was just really excited and I feel totally stress free now! That's not going to last long though once the baby gets here next week. Yeah, I can't wait to finally see her!!! 10 more days!

Dinosaur Museum

Yesterday Makenna's preschool went to Thanksgiving Points Dinosaur Museum so Kason and I went and tagged along. It was fun to see Makenna interact with all her school friends and Kason had lots of fun seeing all the exhibits. Here are some pictures of our outing.

Kason's 2 Year Pictures

I took Kason to get his 2 year old pictures the day before his birthday this year. I learned my lesson from last year when he broke his arm 5 days before his birthday and then was covered in hives from his amoxicillin. I didn't get pictures for 6 weeks after his first birthday because I didn't want the cast or the rash in his pictures. Needless to say I was totally prepared this year. We went to a place here in Lehi called Camera Shy and they did the cutest job! They had so many different options and Kason really cooperated so I think we got some really cute ones. There were a ton to pick from so it was hard to order prints. Anyways here is our handsome little man!

Kason's new bed

I have been wanting to get Kason switched over to a big boy bed for a few month's now so I started looking around at different beds we could buy. I couldn't find anything I liked for a decent price. So I showed Weston a picture of one I really liked from Pottery Barn but it was really expensive of course. (I just really liked how the head and foot board looked like the bead board that is in Kason's room.)

Well Weston said "I could make that!" So I put him to work. It took longer than expected because things kept coming up at work and with the holidays but we finally got it finished! I just absolutely love it and all I can say is that I have the best husband in the world! He can do anything and I really appreciate all that he does for us. Oh and Kason really likes his new bed! There seems to be this invisible bubble around his bed too because he hasn't even tried to get out of it. He gets right up in to bed when it's bed time and he will just lay there and call for us when he wakes up. He is such a great kid! We sure do love him! Now I hope I haven't just jinxed us!

He looks so teeny in it! But we got some cool Buzz and Woody sheets and he just loves it! Now we just need to get a comforter/blanket and a step stool. It's a little too tall for him but he'll grow into it!

New Years Bowling

Every year Weston's family has the tradition of going bowling on New Years Day. Since it fell on a Sunday this year, we all went on Saturday, New Years Eve instead. The kids and Weston had lots of fun. I on the other hand am getting tired of being pregnant and not getting to enjoy anything. I hate sitting on the sidelines and watching everyone else. Oh well. Just 7 more weeks to go and our little princess will be here! So here are a couple pictures of bowling.

Kason's 2nd birthday

Kason had his 2nd birthday 3 day's after Christmas and this year he was so much fun! He will still in the mode of opening presents and he was being pretty cute. We had a Mickey birthday party complete with Mickey decorations, a Mickey cake and a Mickey pinata. We had family over for presents and cake and ice cream and he was so funny when we opened his presents. He was very particular to wrapping paper. He had to open all his Buzz and Woody wrapping paper first and he did not want to open the purple wrapping from my parents. It was so funny! And after every present he unwrapped he had to take it to Cam's girlfriend Savannah and show it to her and then he would take it to Weston's mom to put in a pile. It was pretty cute. I still can't believe he's getting so big! But he is so much fun to have around and we all love his happy personality. Love you and Happy Birthday Kason!!!

Kason's 2 year stats

Kason turned two on Wednesday and the next day we went to the doctor for his 2 year check up. Here are his stats.

Height - 34.78 in - just under 50%
Weight - 27.78 lbs - 50%
Head - 19.5 in - 50%

He is growing up so fast I can hardly believe it. Just a couple month's ago he was still my little baby and all of sudden he is such a toddler. He loves running around and playing with Makenna. He loves Thomas the train and Mickey Mouse. He is really talking up a storm and is so funny about things. He plays roll call every day asking where people are and what are they doing. He loves anybody but mom. If Weston is home I can't do anything for him it has to be his dad. Which is fine by me I don't have to change those messy diapers! And if we go to Grandma's house he has to have them do everything for him too! He carries a step stool everywhere he goes so he can climb up and reach things. Toys, food in the pantry, light switches, etc. He is really such a fun boy. His new thing is trying to jump off the ground. He hasn't mastered it yet but I'm sure he will soon. His favorite food right now is bagels and crack. (crackers) And he loves his guck. (cup with either milk or juice.) Kason is so much fun right now and we sure do love him!

Christmas 2011

Christmas this year was as busy as it is every year. Sometimes I wish that we could slow the day down and enjoy everything but it just seems to fly by! Oh well, maybe next year. Well to start off we had church at 9 am and I just didn't think we could do everything and get ready before hand so I had this plan of hiding the kids under blankets and walking them down the stairs and out the door so they couldn't see anything. My parents and sisters were going to come to church with us and then back to our house for orange rolls, fruit and of course presents! I was so excited for the kids because they are at such a fun age and I couldn't wait to see their faces when they saw what Santa brought them. Well my little 4 year old was apparently even more excited than me and the first thing she did Christmas morning was sneak down stairs to see if Santa had eaten her cookies. Well he had and she was so excited to come and tell us that he had eaten the cookies and drank all the milk! I just wanted to cry. I didn't get to see her face all excited to see if Santa had been there. But after we talked and after we finally made it back home from church Weston convinced me that he didn't think she saw everything. She just saw the TV tray with the missing cookies and not all the presents. Both kids were so excited for all their new toys and had a great morning. Makenna got a Barbie house and a pink microphone, and Kason got his Choo-Choo. He was so excited for it and has not stopped playing with it yet! (Well except for every time we pull him away to run to someones house or to go to sleep.)

So after presents and a little nap we went to Weston's parents house where we all got spoiled. Makenna got her Strawberry Shortcake house and Kason got his Buzz Lightyear. Then we were off to my parents where we got spoiled again with more presents, and had Kason's birthday dinner. It was such a great day and I just wish it would have lasted longer so we could have enjoyed everything. Thanks to everyone who made it such a great day and I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas!

Christmas Dance Recital

Makenna had her Christmas Dance Recital last night and she did such a great job! They danced to I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Clause and it was adorable! She knew the dance so well and did such a great job! We love watching her dance!

Letters To Santa

For Family Home Evening last week we let the kids write their letters to Santa and then we went to Thanksgiving Point and saw all the lights. It was a really fun night and the kids really enjoyed it. Kason isn't old enough to write yet so I thought it would be fun to pick out pictures from all the catalogues and we would cut and glue them to a letter for Santa. Kason's attention lasted about 3 minutes and then he was done. Makenna on the other hand could have gone all night long! Everything she looked at she had to cut out and ask Santa for. So I'm sure Santa can find something on her list that will make her happy on Christmas morning. Now we just all have to wait which is proving hard for some of us! We just can't wait! Decorating the Christmas Tree

I love bringing out all my Christmas decorations. It's probably the only holiday that I really decorate the house for. I just love putting everything up and the kids this year had a lot of fun helping. Makenna was so helpful with everything and Kason was old enough to help decorate the tree this year. They both had so much fun. I actually just sat down on the couch and watched them decorate the tree once Weston got it up. It was such a nice night. And of course it wouldn't be a blog post with out pictures, so here they are!

The Big 3 - 0

Weston's birthday was yesterday and he turned 30!!! He's so old now! Well actually he could care less it doesn't bother him at all actually. But I am freaking out that we are so old now! Anyways to celebrate I decided to shower him with gifts, since I love shopping and giving gifts! So he got 30 presents for his 30th birthday! Now some of them were really lame (like a bag of sunflower seeds or a free set of knifes I got at RC Willey last year) and others were really funny (like the Pacifier movie that is an inside joke for us). But some of them he really enjoyed like a new basketball (so we don't have to borrow his brother Shane's anymore), new clothes and a new wii game. So Happy Birthday Weston and I hope you have a great year you old man!

Kangaroo Zoo

Since it was a long weekend we wanted to try and fit some fun family time in while we had Weston at home. So we took the kids to Kangaroo Zoo. Makenna loved it the second she got there and was off and running. Kason took a minute to warm up but as soon as he did he was all over the place. He would slide down the slides on his tummy or upside down and he even was trying to do somersaults like Makenna. He just copied everything she did. They were so cute and had so much fun. I'm glad we took them and let them get out all their crazy energy!

Hanging our Christmas Lights

So the Friday after Thanksgiving Weston was hanging the lights on our house. Now I was trying to sleep during Kason's nap because I had gone shopping the whole night before for Black Friday but I was being very successful. I had been hearing Weston walking around on the roof and the lights dragging but all of a sudden I was woken up with a load bang and a really loud noise as something slid off the roof. I jumped out of bed so fast to look our the window below just sure that I was going to see Weston on the ground. But I couldn't find him, so I called his phone and he answered. He was still on the roof hanging lights. As I looked out the back window this is what I found.

Weston had used the taller ladder to climb up on the house and had taken this small step stool up on the roof to help him get up to the higher lever. But the wind had knocked it over and blown it off the roof. It landed right on top of my little pine tree I was trying to grow and smashed my pot. It was a loud noise and scared me to death but I'm so glad it wasn't Weston that fell off the roof!

Potty Time!

So Kason and I have official taken the leap into potty training. I was really trying to put it off but with his food allergies and intolerance to fruits I really think potty training will help a ton with his diaper rash. Also the fact that a new baby that will be in diapers is arriving in 3 months is helping push my motivation too. I don't really want to be changing 2 kids diapers plus I think Weston will die at the cost of all of it all. Kason will tell us sporadically that he needs to go potty so we thought we might as well give it a try. Therefore this morning Kason and I went shopping. We got all the necessities, big boy undies, pull-ups, a step stool, m & m's (for rewards) and an extra pair of pants. (He doesn't have enough to make it a week as it is so I got an extra pair for accidents.)

He picked out Mickey Mouse and Thomas and Friend's undies. He also gets 3 m&m's if he goes potty in the toilet. So here he is relaxing with his goodies.

So once we got home he chose a pair of Mickey and Donald undies and he was set. He kind of walked funny at first because they definitely fit differently than a diaper does. I just had to laugh at him. He was all bow legged! He has done well minus one accident right before nap time. So we just put a diaper on him and sent him to bed. He really likes getting 3 m & m's after he goes potty so that is helping us out. Hopefully the rest of the week will go as well. I'm hoping to have Weston help me out since he will be home more because of the holidays.

Cute Kids

Lately Makenna and Kason have been doing the cutest things and I thought I should really write them down. So here is what is going on around here.

Makenna

Our little model

She loves playing Disneyland. She will pack up her bag and go on pretend rides. She slides down the stairs playing Splash Mountain and twirls in circles on the Teacups.
She has learned so much from being in school for just 2 months that it just blows my mind. She is such a smarty pants.
She always has to be right and don't you tell her she's not or try and correct her because that will just start it up again!
Makenna is always dancing or doing handstands. Everyday she is practicing her dancing or tumbling and she calls it exercises. Now I thought that with 2 dance classes and one tumbling class she would be burnt out but I think the opposite has happened. She has more energy then ever!
She is the biggest social butterfly and loves to play with friends. Everyone she meets is her friend.

He says "What!" after everything you say
He has been throwing himself on the ground and just laying there when he doesn't get his way. It is pretty cute!
We have gotten him off his binky although now we have a few more bedtime palls like Mickey, Giraffe, Buzz and Woody.
He is talking so much but my favorite words right now are for crackers "crack" and his drink is "guck"
He loves his sister and wants to do whatever she is doing. He will just follow her around the house just to be with her. It is so sweet.
He is obsessed with Mickey Mouse and Trains so he asks for them all day long.
Kason really is just the happiest sweetest kid ever!

I really wish I could think of more because I know I could go on and on about these two but for some reason my pregnancy brain has really kicked in and I can't think right now. So I'll just have to update later.

First Snow Fall

Well I don't think you can even call it that but you see that little dusting of white on the grass? Well that is snow and when Makenna saw it Saturday morning she just had to go outside and make a snow angel. So we got the kids all dressed up and sent them outside to play. Makenna loved it and wanted to play out there all day. Kason wasn't that big of a fan. I think his boots were too small and he didn't want gloves on. But either way it was fun to wake up to!

Halloween 2011

Happy Halloween!!!

This year was Kason's first year trick or treating since it was raining last year and boy did he have fun! He would walk up to the doors and say "Treat!" It was pretty adorable. Makenna was shy as usual but they both had so much fun they didn't want to stop. They just kept wanting to go to more houses. I'm glad they had so much fun! Here are the adorable cuties!

BYU Game

We were able to go to the BYU game on Saturday thanks to my awesome friend Nicole. She had two tickets that she wasn't going to be able to use so she let us have them. Weston has been wanting to take Makenna to a game so we ended up buying her a ticket so she could get in and then we all just sat together. It was so much fun and Makenna had the time of her life. She was so excited to watch all the cheerleaders and Cosmo. I don't think she actually even saw the game! She was way to busy watching other things. She is already asking to go back to another game! So thanks again Nicole and thanks to my sister for watching Kason for us.

Pizza Night!

For dinner last night I thought I would let the kids make their own individual pizza's. I didn't realize it was going to be so much fun. Makenna is totally independent and loves helping me in the kitchen but Kason was hilarious! He wanted to do everything so Weston helped him roll out his dough and then helped him load the toppings. But it was when Weston was making his own pizza that Kason was cracking me up. Every time Wes turned his back to get another topping (or more of something) Kason would start picking everything off of Weston's pizza and eating it! It was so funny to see him act so fast when Weston turned his back. And he wasn't bothering anybody else's pizza just Weston's! It was pretty cute. Anyways, Weston finally got his pizza made and it was a fun dinner. (Oh and by the way Rhodes dough is just amazing if you or your family members have egg allergies. We use it for everything! We've done pizza's, rolls, breadstick's, soup bowls, cinnamon rolls, orange rolls and we even tried them out as doughnuts! I love Rhodes and they are so convenient!) Pumpkin Patch Field trip

Today Makenna got to go on her first field trip. They went to the Vineyard Nursery down in Orem and Kason and I got to tag along. It was really cute the had a corn maze and big play area and a little light alley and then at the end they all got to pick out there own pumpkin. We were able to get a cute class picture of all the kids and then they were off. I really didn't see Makenna again until they were picking out there pumpkins. She is such a social butterfly that she was off and playing or talking to someone the whole time.

Girl!!!

We went in today for our 20 week ultrasound and everything looked good. The Dr. said the head was measuring small but everything looked normal inside and there wasn't any extra fluid on the brain so everything should be good. She wasn't cooperating totally with the Dr. so he said he was 90% sure it was a girl. Hopefully next time they will let us sneak in and take another look to check the head and see if it is 100% a girl.

Now I just have to convince Weston of a name. He doesn't like any of mine. But I'm not going to give in on my name this time. I had to give in on Makenna's name so I think it's my turn to pick this ones! Wish me luck!

Disneyland

Last week we were lucky enough to go to Disneyland with Weston's parents, all his brothers, wives and their kids. It was a big crazy bunch but it was lots of fun. We stayed in a hotel about a block away from Disneyland which was so nice to be close enough to go back and forth whenever we wanted. We spent three days between Disneyland and California Adventureland. Kason and Makenna had so much fun but Makenna keeps telling me her favorite part was when the plane landed. They both would throw their arms up in the air and squeal like they were on an amusement park ride. They were so cute! Disneyland was lots of fun and the waits weren't long at all. Well, Tinkerbell was pretty long but other than that it was great. The park was decorated for Halloween, which I was not a fan of, (I'm just not a fan of Halloween in general) but it was fun to see it differently. The kids loved the teacups, Storybookland, the Little Mermaid ride, the carousel and meeting characters. Makenna did get brave and she went on all the big rides. I went on Splash Mountain but that was as good as it got. Kason and I got to stand around and wait a lot so I spoiled myself and did some shopping. Now Kason is obsessed with Mickey with is totally adorable! Well here are some pics of our trip! It was so much fun and thanks Grandma and Grandpa Southwick!

Number 3

Yes, we have baby #3 arriving in February! We get to have our ultrasound in 3 weeks and hopefully we can find out what it is! Makenna is super excited and when we finally told her so had a million questions like where is the baby going to sleep and who's house she gets to sleep at when we go to the doctors to get the baby. She is hoping for a girl but I have to keep reminding her that we get what we get and we don't throw a fit. We are just hoping for a healthy baby. Kason on the other hand doesn't understand and could care less. He's a typical boy!

Makenna's First Day of Preschool

Wednesday was Makenna's first day of Preschool. She goes to a place called The Busy Bee Preschool and it is pretty close to our house. We were able to go meet her teacher and her classroom last week and Makenna got so excited! She could hardly wait for school to start. Her teachers name is Miss Mandy she has two neighbor girls in her class so that makes it nice for her to feel comfortable and nice for carpooling for me! She said her favorite part about school yesterday was playing. They have this really cute castle and Makenna was really excited to play in it. Poor Kason sure missed her while she was gone though. You should have seen how excited he was when we went and picked her up. It was adorable! I'm excited for Makenna to be starting up preschool and I know this will be great learning experience for all of us. Well here are some pics!

Makenna's First Day of Dance

This year Makenna is taking dance at two different studios this year. Of course she'll be at the Dance Depot with her favorite teachers Grandma and Cali but we are also trying out the Jazz n Place. She started at the Jazz n Place on Tuesday and she said she had a lot of fun and her teacher was nice. So I hope she continues to enjoy it. Here she is for her first day. She picked out her outfit to wear today and it was from one of her dance recital dances last year. I think this is her favorite outfit but I'm afraid she's getting too tall for it. Hopefully she won't notice when it's missing next week!

Battlecreek Falls

Our last activity for the weekend was on Monday. We woke up on Monday morning and went for a hike up Battlecreek Falls in Pleasant Grove. The kids did really well and we all had so much fun. It was a nice hike and not too hard. We figured it took us about 30-45 minutes to get up there. It actually took us longer to get down because the kids kept stopping to play!

Foam Days

Saturday was Foam Days in Lehi. It started in the morning with a bunch of festivities but we were at a family reunion so we made it just in time for the foam. It was so much fun! I have been wanting to go the past few years but we are always at the cabin, so I was so excited to go this year. The fireman squirt this foam from their fire hoses and it just sets on top of the ground. The kids were pretty nervous at first so I kept telling them it was just like bubbles in our bathtub. But eventually they warmed up and even had some fun.

Splash Pad

Last weekend was so busy!!! And most of that was my fault! But we have been sitting around to house for way too much of our summer so I was determined to do some fun things while Weston had a few days off work. So Friday we took the kids up to the Highland Splash Pad. They both really enjoyed it. Although I think their favorite part was the ice cream cone afterwards!

Not a happy post

So this is not going to be a happy post so I encourage everyone to skip over it.

I am going crazy!!!!! For three weeks I have been changing beyond gross diapers, cleaning up puke, and doing millions of loads of laundry. And plus I don't know whats worse actually being sick or having to take care of people that are sick. But for 3 weeks this is all I've known. Kason, Makenna and I have all had it twice and now Weston has it. So now I have gone through two cans of lysol, two containers of clorox wipes, a whole bottle of laundry soap and one container of clorox bleach. And not to mention the diapers! I have cleaned this house top to bottom including all furniture, door knobs, light switches, toys and anything that can go in the washing machine. And Weston had to rent a carpet cleaner and clean all our carpets becuase Kason does not now how to sit still and watch t.v. while he is sick. Now as soon as Kason goes down for a nap I am tackling the fridge. Maybe there is something in there that is expired or something that I can disinfect.

But does anyone know what its like to be stuck inside the house for 3 weeks with two whinny kids? Because if one isn't puking then the other is crying to go outside!!! All I know is that if your, your spouse or your children are sick or have been sick in the last 24 hours with any thing much more than a runny nose please do not come near me or my kids! Please do not share food or drinks with my kids. If you so feel the need to get out of your house because you are going crazy (believe me I know) then please at least have the courtesy of calling or texting me to let me know because we will not be showing up.

There I have said it and now maybe I can relax a little bit before my next load of puked on laundry. Oh and thank goodness for Netflix. I don't know what we would have done. Although I am out of shows to watch. Does anyone have any suggestions?

p.s. Makenna told me today that I was a mean mom becuase I wouldn't let her have lunch. Well I'm sorry, I am, I admit it but I am not going to be cleaning up after that again!

p.p.s. And I am sorry to anybody out there if we have gotten you sick. We have tried to be careful but after a couple weeks you think your all better and then, it starts up again! So I do want to apologize to any of you out there that we may have spread stuff too and hopefully you can forgive us. Sorry.

Summer Days

We have been filling these nice warm days with trips to the park, walks around the block and of course playing in the swimming pool and running though the sprinklers. Kason's not really a fan of getting wet but he does like to splash the pool water. Makenna on the other hand can't get enough of it all!

Round-up week

Last week was round-up week and boy was it a busy one! We started out with the picnic in the park on Monday, the boutique in the park on Wednesday, the stock parade and rodeo on Thursday and then the city parades and rodeo on Friday and Saturday. Plus I was put in charge of our wards float (very last minute might I add) for the parade so we have been pretty busy all month. The float turned out okay. Not amazing but okay. We did what we could with what time we had. So here are a bunch of pictures from last week.

This was our ward float. The theme was Memories of...Capturing Summer Memories One Smile at a Time. We had pictures of the ward kids all around the float and in the film strip. Since it was a camera my awesome husband even hooked up a light to a battery so it would flash like a camera.

Makenna was on the float Friday and Kason walked with me in the wagon on Saturday.

Makenna loves to ride the horses at the park every year. We tried to get Kason to do it this year but he just screamed! So much for our wasted dollar!

18 month's

Kason is 18 month's old today. I can't believe how big he is. I still think of him as my little baby but I'm afraid he just isn't any more. He is such a toddler and he thinks he is as big as Makenna. If she is doing anything he is right behind her to do the same. Normally I would think this is a good thing except for the fact that they are always trying to jump off the couch or the stairs. He is starting to talk and can say mom, dad, Ma (Makenna), done, please, thanks, love you, shoe and cheese. Plus I swear he said rodeo last week. He also loves to make sounds. Mostly choo-choo for train and then the dog and cow noises.

We went to the doctors today for shots and a check up and I came out totally surprised. Usually he is short and chunky on the charts but this time he was really the opposite. He must have finally hit a growth spurt! Here are his stats

Weight - 25.13 lbs and 40.14%
Height - 32.75 inch's and 65.14%
Head - 19.25 in and 80.14%

So our little man is growing up happy and healthy and boy do we love him!

A few weeks ago my friend took some pictures of the two kids for us. They turned out so cute!!! I was so excited yesterday when I finally got to see them. Kason was pretty much a stinker the whole time so we didn't get any great shots of him but there were a couple that were cute. He just wouldn't hold still or look at the camera! Makenna was the perfect model and we got a ton of really cute ones of her. We did these pictures for Makenna's 4 year old pictures and Kason's 18 month pictures. Even though they were a month early for Kason I figured I better do them all at the same time. For his year pictures he had a broken arm so I had to wait a month to do them so they were late. Oh well. Anyways here are a few of them.

Swimming Lessons

I signed Makenna up for swimming lessons this summer and it's been going for this week and continues on into next week. It has been really good for her because she has a hard time in the water. She seems to be afraid of everything about it. But I have gotten her to stay in class, and participate for the most part. She kept having excuses of having to go to the bathroom, a swimming band aid (I don't even know what she is talking about with that one), and then she is terrified of the bucket dumping water on her. But things are going better and she was really excited to wear her new swimming suit. So hopefully next week goes better!

Thomas the Train

Since Weston had lots of time off over Memorial Day weekend we decided to take the kids to the Day Out With Thomas up in Heber. We didn't tell Makenna where we were going and when we pulled up she got so excited. I didn't even know if she would be that into it but I think she enjoyed it more than Kason did! They both really enjoyed it and had lots of fun. It was a great family outing and I'm so glad we went!

Dance Recital

Ready to start performing!

Makenna had her dance recital last weekend and she did such a great job. Since she loves to dance so much we decided to let her take two dance classes this year and she has had so much fun! She took from her Grandma Southwick and her Aunt Cali in one class and from another instructor named Candice for her second class. It was lots of fun be we didn't realize that she was going to have 4 dances at the recital this year. She was having lots of fun dancing on stage and then we would run back to change just in time to jump on the stage with the next class. That was a lot for a little girl! She was just loving it though. She kept saying, "this is so much fun," "I have so many dances!" But by the last dance she was really tired and hungry and thirst. We'll have to rethink that one for next year. But she did such an amazing job and had so much fun! She is already asking me when she gets to dance on stage again. It is going to be a really long year! But here are some pics from the recital.

A very amazing husband

I have the greatest husband in the world. I know, I know, everybody thinks that about their husbands but mine really is! Here is just an example why.

Friday was cleaning day. Not only was I cleaning my house but I had already cleaned my husband's grandparent's house. Now that, is a lot of bathrooms! 4 to be exact and I HATE bathrooms. When we moved into our house we had planned to install tile in all the bathrooms and the kitchen and so far we had only one bathroom done and the entry way. So anyways, back to cleaning the bathrooms, I had just finished cleaning them and was about to start on the floors when I realized how disgustingly dirty they were. (It been a while since I had done the floors!) So I started thinking, why don't we just get rid of this ugly linoleum and put tile down. The linoleum was curling up around the tub so I just gave it a little tug and up it came! I hadn't gotten too far by the time my husband got home from work and saw what I had done. Now he could've yelled at me, gotten mad at me or told me to fix it but instead he went upstairs laughing and changed into his work clothes. We spent the rest of the night working on the bathroom floor. He is such a great and understanding husband of all my spur of the moment, crazy ideas and he loves me for just being me. He really is the greatest husband!

4 Years Old

Makenna is officially 4 years old now. I just can't believe how big she is. I also can't believe that I have a 4 year old. It is crazy! This past year we have been doing a Joy School in the neighborhood and it has been a great experience. Here are some things she can do.

(I swear blogger hates me. There are so many spaces through out this post making it forever long but I can't fix it! Sorry it's all spread out)

She has learned to count to ten (except she usually forgets 7)

She can say the alphabet.

She can trace her name but she has a hard time still writing it

She can recognize almost all the letters in the alphabet.

She also knows all her colors and shapes.

She can now say her "S's" "Snow, Skirt, and School"

She is getting so smart!

Here are some things about Makenna at this age

She loves to dance. She dances everyday and now with recital over I don't know what we are going to do this summer. I asked all the kids at school once what they wanted to be when they grew up and most had answers like a mom, or teacher but Makenna wanted to be a dancer. It was so cute!

She loves Princesses, Tinkerbell and Peter Pan, Strawberry Shortcake and Barbie's

Her favorite shows are Curious George (or George the Monkey as she calls it), Strawberry Shortcake, Hannah Montana, Tangled and High School Musical.

She loves her dad. If she is hurt or sad or wakes up in the middle of the night it is always her dad she wants. Total Daddy's girl!

Makenna turned 4 last week and to celebrate she wanted to have a party with all her friends from Joy School and Dance. We didn't do the party on her actual birthday though, we ended up doing it a couple days early since we were having such a busy week. But we had 8 girls come and we played games and had cupcakes. Makenna had fun and the girls seemed to be having fun so I think it was a success. The girls kept me so busy that I forgot to take pictures but here are a few that I did get. And I didn't even get one with all the girls in it! Hopefully next year I do better!

Easter Weekend

We had a great Easter weekend. We had two Easter egg hunts and of course the kids got a new Easter outfit. It was a fun weekend and Makenna is still talking about finding eggs. All day today she has asked me if she can look for some eggs. I should hide a couple tonight so she can look for them tomorrow! That would definitely make her day! Wild Weekend out West

My parents have recently purchased a rzr and we were all just dying to take it out for a ride. So luckily this weekend ended up being nice enough that we could take it out. We went with my parents and my two sisters out west to the desert. (You should hear Makenna say desert, she is pretty cute!) Along with the rzr, we had their 4-wheeler and we all took turns. It was so much fun! Makenna went on a hike with grandpa and I got lost only once on the rzr. Of course Weston was acting like a daredevil on the 4-wheeler and Kason was covered from head to toe in dirt and cookies. We had to dump him straight into the tub when we got home. It was a great weekend and we can't wait for another nice day to go out again!

Family Vacation

I have been begging Weston to take us on a family vacation since last year and we finally went on one two weeks ago. Guess where we went? I've also been begging Weston to take me here for the last 3 or 4 years. So we went to Disneyland!!! It was the greatest vacation ever!!! It was so much fun and even though both the kids had colds it was such a great vacation. My mom and two sisters were even able to come with us so it was nice to have many helping hands on the trip. Makenna didn't feel that well the first two days but she still really loved it. It is all she has talked about since we've been home. Kason did really well too. I wasn't expecting there to be much for him to do but there was. He was just able to sit on my lap for the rides. It was nice. I thought he would be in the stroller the whole time and miserable but he wasn't. His favorite ride was the carousel. I could not get him to let go of the horse when the ride was over. It was adorable. And as for Makenna, what didn't she like! She loved the tea cups and the carousel but her favorite part were the people. She got to meet Briar Rose, Belle, Jasmin, Tinkerbell, Silvermist, Mickey and Minnie, Pooh Bear, Tigger and I saved the best for last. Rapunzel and Flynn!!! She even had to see them twice! Well as Makenna would say from the movie Tangled, it was "The Best Day Ever!!!" I am so glad we had the chance to go and I can't wait to go again. Thanks to the Southwick's for letting us borrow there suburban and thanks to my family for coming and putting up with us for the weekend. Yikes part 2!!!

So I was bound and determined to make it through the week without anymore problems. Well lets just say that didn't happen. I went out to the car, got both kids loaded up so I could run Makenna to dance and guess what? It wouldn't start! Seriously!!! What is going on here. So I had to get both kids out, switch the car seats to the blazer and drove Makenna to dance. She was late for dance for the second time this week! I hate being late! I sure hope no one I know saw my driving around in Weston's awesome blazer. We get free air conditioning due to the fact that the drivers side window is broken in the downward positions. Any chance tomorrow will be warmer than today?

So Weston has only been gone since Monday and by Tuesday I seemed to have drove off from my brothers house with my phone on my trunk. Needless to say it did not make it home and I had to go get a new one. I would be a little more excited about my new iphone except for all the guilt of being such a blond. But I did get a house number too. Now I won't be so stressed out and worried if (when) I loose my phone again. So any bets that I survive the next 4 weeks? I think I can, I think I can...

It's been awhile and I thought I'd just write down whats been going on lately. First and most important is Weston got a new job!!! I am so excited! It is for a company in Lindon and so far they seem like an awesome company. He's been there for two weeks and things are going well. They have health insurance, dental, eye, life insurance and a 401k! We have never had anything but health insurance so I am so happy that we now have stuff and it wont cost us a fortune. They have so many amazing benefits but there is one catch. Weston will be doing a lot of traveling. But that's okay. There are so many plus's about this job (all the benefits, and pay raise) and he'll get so much experience being out there in the field. Plus there is room to move up in the company so this is such a blessing! We are so happy. (Well I am. Wes is still overwhelmed, but it will be good)

As for me, I am on my second migraine this year. I usually only get one every year or two. So I don't know what is up with that but I sure hope they don't continue. Makenna has been so good to me. She is always getting me sunglasses to wear so I can open my eyes. She is good to take care of me.

Makenna is learning so much at our Joy school. She is counting to 20. She forgets 7a lot of the time but she is doing really well besides that. She is learning the alphabet and she loves to write the letter H. (Although she is calling it the "number" H. So cute!) We will get that figured out soon. She can trace her name but has a hard time writing it by herself. But come on, Makenna is a long name! I didn't think about how hard it would be to say or write her name when we were coming up with names for her. Our next kid will have an easy name! She loves dance and has two dance classes this year. She has so much fun and spends most of everyday dancing around the house. She is getting so excited for the recital. She is always talking about it and the costumes and that she gets to wear make up. I can't wait to see her perform. She will do so well. She has also outgrown her egg allergy. She can now have a cookie or doughnut with out having a reaction. I still don't dare give her a straight egg or mayo or anything but things are looking up for her.

Now for Kason. We took him to the allergist and he is allergic to peanuts, eggs and the penicillin. They tested him for the tree nuts and they came back negative. They did a blood draw to test further for the tree nuts but we haven't heard from that yet. Hopefully things will come back good on those. He is walking around really well. He still crawls a lot but he is doing really well. He is not my little baby anymore. It's pretty sad but he is so cute. He will go into the toy room and just play. He loves to empty all the dishes and food out of Makenna's kitchen. He will just play and play until we go get him. He often throws a fit when we make him leave all the toys. He just has so much fun playing. He is also into climbing up on everything he can. Step stools, the stairs and his chair. I'm a little afraid of what is to come. He is definitely more active and curious than Makenna ever was. He is also quite the pro on the stairs. He can go up and down them. Weston and I are still really paranoid about them since he broke his arm on the stairs but he hasn't had any other problems. He likes to slide down them on his tummy and say go,go,go,go,go! It is adorable! He can say momma, dadda, kason, nanna go, and something that sounds like all done. He can sign more and please. He's not really into the signing but I keep trying.

So things are looking good and we're just keeping busy. Hopefully it will start to warm up soon! I can't wait to go running outside and let the kids play in the backyard!

It took about 15 minutes! And it is messed up somehow. I don't know what is at the bottom but I'm done trying to mess with it.)

Pierced Ears

Well, she finally did it! I've been trying to pierce Makenna's ears for almost a year now and she finally did it! She has been wanting to pierce her ears forever but SOMEONE, (Weston) told her it would hurt. I have even taken her twice to get them done but she chicken's out every time. But on Friday we were at the mall and I told her she could have a Barbie doll if she got her ears pierced. She hesitated for a minute but then she decided to go and get them done. Weston was pretty bugged because he said he wouldn't have anything to do with but Makenna kept getting scared and only went through with it once Weston came into the store. But she did it and she picked out her earrings all by herself. Pretty blue flowers. She has been so good to let us clean them every day and she loves showing them to everyone.

Kason's Walking!!!

Last Friday Kason took a couple steps towards his Grandpa Southwick but I was at work and didn't get to see. So the next day we were cleaning Weston's grandparents house and Kason took about 6 steps all by his self! I was so excited and of course we didn't have the video camera with us. So I spent all weekend trying to get a video of him walking and needless to say I never got a very good one. Last Sunday he took about eight steps to my dad. He is getting so good! Although he's not venturing off yet he just takes steps between two people. But hey, it's progress! So I know these videos don't do his walking any justice but this is what I have so far. I'm still trying to get a better video but this will have to do for now. (Oh and our 7th office visit in a month was on Monday and Kason got his cast off and his hives are almost cleared up! Yeah!!! Now if only his tooth would come in so he would be our happy little boy again!)

Joy School

This week it was our turn to have Joy School at our house again. This has been my third time and I'm finally feeling like I have gotten the hang of it. We talked about the letters B,C and F and the numbers 9 and 10. The kids were so cute when I was talking about the number ten. One little girl told me that the "1" was actually and "I" and one of the other girls was telling me about the number Zero. She said, do you know what zero means? And I just asked what and she told me it means nothing. Zero is nothing. She is just too smart. But for the unit we were talking about patriotism so they got to put stars on some flags. I think they all really enjoyed it. Here are some pictures of them decorating their flags.

We have seven girls in our group and they are all so cute and so much fun. I am so glad that we live in an awesome neighborhood with so many friends for Makenna to play with. She just loves it and is always asking who's house do they get to go to next for school. I'm glad she enjoys it so much. Now next year, she's off to a regular preschool.

Office visits that is. Tonight we took Kason in for an allergic reaction to his ear infection antibiotic, amoxicillin. So now we have had six office visits in 4 weeks and his list of allergies just keeps growing. Amoxicillin (and penicillin), eggs and nuts. Funny thing is we were supposed to take him to the allergist today to have him tested but we had to reschedule because he was covered in hives and doped up on benedryl. Poor kid. I really hope he gets feeling better soon. This has been the longest month ever!!!

Poor kid. His whole face is covered in red sploches. It doesn't look that bad here but his face started to swell up so we finally took him in to the after hours clinic again.

Engagement Anniversary

Yesterday was our anniversary of when Weston and I got engaged. That was 6 years ago. I can't believe it has been that long. I still remember that day. It was great. Weston still wants to forget that day! Let's just say that all his planning and hard work didn't go as expected. But he asked and I said yes and the rest is history. So for Christmas I gave Weston 2 Jazz tickets for last nights game so we could have a fun date night. They played the Cavaliers and killed them, Ronnie Price had a good game, and it was just tons of fun. We apparently don't get out much and lets just say it was an interesting night with interesting people. I got ran over by a wheel chair, we saw some nice crack of the kid in front of us, we sat next to a crazy lady from Price (who was missing some of her teeth), and then some interesting guy tried to give me his Taco Bell coupon. So many funny people, it was all very entertaining.

This was the only picture we got of us at the game. We didn't bring our camera so this is from Weston's phone. Not a great picture but at least we can say we were there. Such a fun night. Thanks Wes for taking me! (I don't know that you had much of a say though!) Love you!

Kason's One Year Stats

Last week I took Kason in for his one year check up. Now counting a trip to an after hours clinic this week that brings our total office visits up to 5 in about 3 weeks. And those were all for him. Poor kid, I guess when it rains, it pours. We have a week and a half left for his cast, he got three shots last week and he started an antibiotic two days ago for an ear infection. I'm hoping the rest of the year doesn't continue on like this! Well here are his 12 month stats

Isn't that the cutest/saddest thing you've ever seen!?!

On Thursday (the day before Christmas Eve), Kason had just finished eating dinner and had crawled over and climbed up the stairs. (This is his favorite thing to do) Well, from what Makenna has told us he was only about two or three steps up when he came tumbling down. He bonked his head and got a little carpet burn. After he stopped crying Weston put him down on the ground to make sure everything was okay but we soon found out it wasn't. When he went to crawl his left arm collapsed and he started crying again. He couldn't crawl on his arm. We waited until Friday morning (Christmas eve) and he still couldn't crawl on it so we took him into the urgent care clinic since our doctor's office was closed. They touched it and felt it and said it was probably just a sprain. So we went home but all weekend long the poor kid did a little half army crawl on one elbow and then up on one hand. It was so sad but so cute too. So on Monday, (the day before his 1st birthday), we called our pediatrician and took him in. He inspected his arm and then sent us over to the hospital for x-rays. He said you can never be sure that it isn't a broken arm just by looking at it. You have to have an x-ray to see for sure. So by the time we got back from the hospital the Dr. called us and said that Kason had a fracture in the wrist. We went back to the pediatrician and they put a cast on it. Poor kid had to suffer all weekend long with a broken arm! He was such a good boy though and was surprisingly happy. He would whine if he put pressure on his arm so he just compromised and did his half army crawl. There was no swelling at all so we didn't have many symptoms to go on of it being broken. But he will be in a cast for 4 weeks so it can heal. So for Christmas he had no cast but for his birthday he had one. Even though it was broken for both. He is such a tough little guy!

Kason's 1st Birthday

Kason had his 1st birthday yesterday and I just can't believe how the time has flown by. He is just the cutest and happiest little boy ever! Here are a few things about him.

His first word (or what it sounds like) - Oh ya!

He has been crawling since around 9 months and will walk but only if he has a finger in each hand.

He loves food! Almost everything and he will two fist it into his mouth!

He loves his older sister and wants to do everything she is doing
He is very wiggly! He will never sit still. Church is practically torture for us.

He loves balls and trucks

He loves music and will bounce up and down whenever he hears it

He likes to snuggle with us or a blanket. He is just a little sweetheart.
He can sign "all done"

So we had a Jungle party for Kason with all of our families yesterday and thank you to everyone who came and showed Kason how much we love him.

Well Christmas this years was wonderful. I was not 9 months pregnant and having contractions like last year and I had both my kids here with us! It was so great!!! What's in a name?

I am for warning you guys that this is long and no pictures. This is not really like me but I just had to let it out. I feel like I've been holding it in too long.

Have you ever thought about that? What your name really means to you? To me it was just what people called me to get my attention. For the last 6 years I feel like I have become lost without my name. For anyone who has known me longer than 6 years, you probably know me as Katy. But once I met Weston I didn't want to confuse people since there was already a Katie in the family so I went by my real name Katrina. This past week I have run into some people from the past that called me Katy and it brought back so many happy memories and made me feel happy. I miss that. I want it back.

In the past month I have come to realize that my name, Katy, has much more meaning to me then I thought. It is who I am, my reputation, my identity, and my life. Unfortunately now I feel like that has been taken from me. My name has been dragged through the mud, ruined my credit and my reputation. It is just not fair. I have worked my whole life to be a good and responsible person but now that has all been taken from me by someone who does not have the same values, responsibility or work ethic.

So in an attempt to find myself, I would love to have my name Katy back but that is not possible. While speaking with the credit people trying to fix my credit they deleted the name Katy off my file and told me never to use it again in hopes that I won't get any future bad marks on my credit report. I know I have recently been going by my full name Katrina, but I feel like it has a bad meaning sometimes when people associate it with the hurricane. Death and destruction. So I am thinking I need to go by something different. Weston thinks I'm crazy, but I feel like I need this. When I was a waitress, (I know what your all thinking. Me a waitress? And trust me, I wasn't any good,) they always had me as Kat on the rotation chart. But I don't think I like that. I'm not a cat and I don't meow. So I was thinking Kate. Does it fit me? Can I pull it off? I don't know, it might be too close to Katy too but I just can't think of anything else. So if anyone out there has any thoughts on this feel free to let me know. Thanks!

Makenna has been dying to build a "nose"man (snowman) ever since the first snow fall. That is all she can talk about. She even asks me repeatedly for a carrot for his nose. So about two weeks ago I bought two carrots at the store and have been waiting for it to snow. Well it finally snowed last night. Makenna was so excited when she woke up and she wanted to go out and build a snowman. Weston being the greatest dad in the world came home during his lunch break to get her snowsuit out of the crawl space. (We really need a new snowsuit. The one she wore today was a 2T and she is in 4T clothes! Plus we didn't have snow gloves so her mittens got wet and cold.) (We weren't prepared for this at all!) So as soon as Kason went down for his nap we went out and made a snowman. Now keep in mind that this is probably the first time I have ever made a snowman by myself and the snow was already melting and hard. I couldn't get it to roll so I just piled it together. So nobody laugh now but here he is!!!

I know, he's not very big. Makenna informed me of that and said that Dad will have to come home and make a big, big one. But he's got two stakes for arms, (couldn't find any sticks), two rocks for eyes, a carrot nose and I even got him a broomstick! Now that's a sweet snowman!

Disney on Ice

Last week we took the kids to Disney on Ice. We even got to go with Shane, Cali and Shali and it was so much fun. Makenna and Shali really enjoyed it and it was fun to go together. We met up and then went to Carl's Jr for dinner and then went up to the show. They had Lilo and Stitch, Ariel, The Lion King and Peter Pan. It was so cute and lots of fun. Kason even did well. Last week we decided to have a family activity of bowling. Makenna was so cute and she had so much fun. The whole time she was just so excited over every little thing that it made everything so much fun. She even wanted Kason to bowl. So I let him sit on my knee and he would push the ball down the little ramp. It was the cutest thing ever! Makenna is such a great big sister. She is always looking after Kason and taking care of him. And Kason just adores her. I couldn't ask for more from my kids. They just love each other and have so much fun together. I have the best family in the world! And the cutest! Here are some pics of us bowling.

Halloween Part 4

We had a fun weekend loaded with activities to celebrate Halloween. It started on Friday where we went to my mom's work and my sister's work and trick or treated around everyones offices. They had so much fun and got a ton of candy, treats, and prizes. Then that night we had a trunk or treat in our ward. This was the first one I had ever been to and next year we will be more prepared with food for dinner and our trunk all decorated. It was lots of fun. Then on Saturday we went to my friends parents house who had done a spook alley that was so cute for the kids. They had lots of games going on too. Then we hit all the grandparents, great grandparents and a few houses in our neighborhood. It was raining and Makenna just wanted to go to a couple of her friends houses so Weston took her around while I stayed at home with Kason and Shellie. It has been a fun weekend and thanks to everyone who spoiled the kids!

Joy School Field Trip

On Tuesday I had arranged for our Joy School to go to the Lehi Fire Department for a field trip. The kids had so much fun and learned so much about fire safety. I think it was a great experience for all of them. Here are some pics of us at the Fire Station.

Halloween 2010 Part 1,2 and 3

Last Monday we went and picked out our own pumpkins for family night. It was lots of fun to go walk around and look for the perfect pumpkin. Although we were a little late picking pumpkins and they seemed to be really picked over. That's all right though because we still had tons of fun.

9 Month's

I can't believe how fast time has flown by!!! Kason is already nine months old! I think I have always looked forward to the fall time and Christmas time but this year I am so sad. Because once Christmas comes my baby will be a year old! I can't believe it is happening so fast! Well we took him to the Dr this week and here are his stats

Kason is such an active boy. He is always wiggling and moving around. He rolls all over the place and he can do an army crawl/scoot. It is just the cutest thing ever! He is also loving food. He will eat about everything we put in front of him. I wonder if he is going to be one of those teenagers that is never full! He is also a spitter. He loves to spit. He does it when he's playing, eating, or talking with people. He is really cute when he gets excited and he just starts spitting. Although it is a little embarrassing when you are at church or out in public and he is spraying strangers but oh well. He's just too cute and lovable to care. Kason also has three teeth now and lots of cute fuzzy hair on top of his head. I'm still learning how to control it but I love it! He is just that happiest, sweetest, cutest, most lovable little boy I could ever ask for and we sure do love him!

Fancy Nancy

Makenna loves the Fancy Nancy books so I took her to the Fancy Nancy party at our city library. They hadn't expected such a turn out so they didn't have enough supplies for the activity and you really couldn't hear the story but Makenna loved it anyway. Most of the kids were all dressed up fancy, and of course Makenna got to dress up. Here are some pics of her dressed all fancy.

First Day of School

Tuesday was Makenna's first day of school. Well Joy school actually. There are a bunch of girls her age in our neighborhood so we put together a group and are doing a Joy school for the kids. There are seven of them counting Makenna. We started this week and Makenna was so excited to go. I let her pick out a new shirt to wear and she wanted to take her "pack back" (backpack). She was a little confused thought because she wanted to ride a bus to school. I told her in a couple years she could but then realized that we will be walking to school. But hopefully she will get to ride a bus for field trips. She had lots of fun and can't wait to go to "goose" (school) next week!

Daily Occurances

Lately Makenna and Kason have been so funny and they have been doing the cutest things! Makenna's new word is "Really." And she doesn't use it once she repeats it about 3 or 4 times. She is always saying, "I'm really, really, really, hungry," or I'm really, really really, thirsty." It is so cute and I don't even know where she came up with it, but I love it. Also,this is what Makenna looks like every day.

She is definitely our little princess, and we sure do love her! She loves to play dress up and dance around and everyday she has on a crown. This is her second one since her birthday. The first one broke and she wanted Santa Clause to bring her a new one. But when I took her to the dentist last month they let her pick a prize from the basket for being such a brave girl and we found this crown. Now she doesn't have to wait so long for Santa to come. That is, if this one last that long!

Now as for Kason, he has become since a wiggler. I can not believe how active he is. He was so still in my stomach that I was always so nervous because he never moved. He is sure making up for it now! He rolls all over the place, and never stays where I put him. This is where I usually find him in the mornings. I leave him on his back with his head facing the other direction. He just completely turns himself around!

He isn't crawling yet but he will push his feet and scoot towards a toy or he will roll over to it. Now this might not come as a surprise to most of you. That's what babies usually do. But with Makenna she was sitting like a pro by 4 months and she never rolled over and never really crawled. I put her down and she stayed there tell she was 14 months and was walking.

We have two baskets one filled with diapers and one filled with toys and he will roll over to them and dump them out. He is already getting into everything! Oh, but it is the cutest things ever! I just love this little man!

Where Did August Go?

I cannot believe that September is here in two days! Now, I love September because it cools off a little and I feel like the Holiday season starts with my birthday and then continues on with Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas. It's just the greatest time of year. But what happened with August? We were so busy and it just flew by! But we have had lots of fun. We did the Gardens at Thanksgiving Point, had our 10 year high school reunion (we are so old!!!), and we attempted to go camping. My uncle Darrell passed away and his funeral was the same weekend we were supposed to go camping so we had to compromise. We ended up roasting marshmallow's in Weston's new fire pit and making s'mores and then we pitched the tent in the backyard and slept outside. It was lots of fun and Makenna really enjoyed it.

Summer Vacation

Last week Weston and I returned from a nice summer vacation. We left both kids at grandma's house and went to California. My dad had some free tickets that were expiring and he gave them to us to use. We were also able to use some points for hotel and then spent one night at Weston's uncle Tommy's house. We had so much fun out there. The first day we went to the beach and did some shopping. Then on Friday we went to Universal Studios. That was lots of fun. Although we got stuck on the tram ride and the King Kong in 3D broke down so we didn't even get to see it. But The Mummy roller coaster was fun. I was a little disappointed because the weather wasn't that warm. The beach was 69 degrees. Not the best weather for swimming but I did get to work on my tan. And that made Universal Studios nice for standing in lines. But all in all it was a nice vacation and it was fun to get away for the weekend. Thanks to both my parents and Weston's parent's for watching the kids, Tommy and Denny for dinner and their hospitality, my dad for the tickets and hotel, and my sisters for taking Makenna to the movie. Both kids got so spoiled and didn't even miss us, they were having so much fun!

Crazy July

This summer seems to be flying past! And July has been the craziest month of all. We had two cabin trips, the Highland City splash pad and we went to the zoo all in the past couple weeks. Things aren't slowing down either. That's okay. It's been ton's of fun and I just love this warm weather! So here are just a bunch of pictures of what we have been up to. I didn't get any pictures at the splash pad but we are going again next week and I'll for sure remember to get my camera. Makenna had so much fun there. Oh and Kason got his first two teeth. He got the first one on July 3rd, and then second one about two weeks later. So now he has the two bottom teeth. Oh and he is such a wiggler! He can't sit still for two seconds and he is all over the place. He just rolls for now but it won't be long tell he's crawling!

Last week we had Weston's cousin Dayna (Dayzy Photography) take our pictures. They are Kason's 6 month, Makenna's 3 year and our family pictures. She did such an amazing job! I just love these pictures. They only problem is, there are too many cute ones to choose from! And I have to say I have the two cutest kids in the world! They both cooperated and were so well behaved and they took some adorable pics. So there are tons on here but I just had to do a slide show to show them off. I can't wait to get some prints made!

Gymnastics

This summer I decided to put Makenna in gymnastics since we had the summer off from dance. Makenna just loves it, and as for me, I don't think I'm such a fan. Sure, it has been great for her, she has learned so much and has become so brave about things. Actually too brave. She is always jumping around the house, off the love sac, from couch to couch down the stairs, just about any where she can think. She also tried to do a flip in the shopping cart at Target. So now I am trying to teach her when it is appropriate to do her gymnastics. Or as she calls it "ba"nastics. She has even asked Weston for a flip bar. But any ways, today they had there pass offs at class so Weston came and watched her and we got some pictures. She did a good job and she was so excited to have us there watching her.

6 Months Old

I can't believe how time flies by! Kason is already 6 months old. He is rolling over, and sitting with help, although he prefers to stand or lay down. And he is eating cereal and squash. He loves the Gerber Graduates little puffs too. I just can't believe he is such a big boy now. The last couple of days he has been eating his toes. It is just the cutest thing. He just lifts his legs up and sticks his foot in his mouth. He is so flexible! Well, since Kason's birthday is right after Christmas, I have decided to give him a half birthday. I tried this with Makenna and Wes just made fun of me. But with Kason this is a must. So he got a few presents and a cake that he didn't get to eat! I'm so mean! I make the kid a cake but I wouldn't share!

Man I just love this little guy so much! He has the cutest little laugh and smile. It is adorable! I just can't even imagine life with out him. Weston says I am a baby hog and I totally admit that I am! But I just can't stop holding and snuggling him. He is just the sweetest little guy and I'm so glad he is apart of our family.

Round-up Week

Last week was a very busy week. It was the annual Lehi Round-up. We had things going on almost every day. It was a very crazy but very fun week. I was able to get some pictures of all the festivities but not all of them.

Monday - We went and had a picnic in the park with my family and listened to Lehi's got talent.

Tuesday - I took Kason to the baby contest

Thursday night at the Rodeo was "Tough enough to wear Pink" night and I thought Kason was pretty tough. So I put a pink shirt on him under is outfit. But when I put it on him Weston and I both about died! He looked so much like Makenna. So I had to go find a bow to put on him. I wanted to take a picture and compare with Makenna's pictures and I didn't have pictures of her with out a bow on. So what does everyone think? Don't they look so much alike? Who is who?

Strawberry Days

Last week was Pleasant Grove's Strawberry Days and my little sister invited us to go to the carnival. This was Makenna's first time at a carnival. We let her ride the carousel at the mall once but that is the extent of rides for her. But she loved it! She wanted to try them all. She didn't even get scarred on the big caterpillar ride. I on the other hand was terrified watching her go up and down and around. It was such a big ride for a 3 year old. But she loved it all. Thanks Shellie for the invite! We all had so much fun!

Swimming Lessons

We put Makenna in swimming lessons this year and it was so much fun. It was actually a parent/tot class so I was taking swimming lessons too! It lasted for two weeks but just ended yesterday. Weston came over one day and took pictures and then he even took Makenna to her class last Friday. She had lots of fun and learned so much. She has become a lot braver in the water. She can jump from the side of the pool, climb out and blow bubbles. She still doesn't like to get her head wet all the way but she has improved a ton since we started. So here are a few pics! Also thanks to Weston's mom and my sister for watching Kason while we went!

Story Time

Today Makenna, Kason and I went to story time at the library with my friend Heather and her son. It was pretty good. They read a few stories and sang some songs. Afterwards I was talking to my little sister on the phone and she said "YOU went to the library!" Apparently it was a big shock to her. So I was telling Weston about that and he agreed with her. He said well it's not really your kind of place is it? Well to be honest I had no clue what I was doing, I couldn't find any Curious George books for Makenna and my library card had expired. But hey, at least I had one! And I want to go back again in a few weeks, it was something fun for Makenna to do and to get out of the house. We will definitely be going during the winter.

5 Years

Today is our 5th wedding anniversary! It's just crazy how the time flies. When I think back on it, it seems so long ago but at other times it feels just like yesterday. In the last 5 years I have graduated from UVSC, Weston has graduated from BYU, we have bought our first home and we have the two cutest and most wonderful children. I really can't think of anything that could be better. And through all this I have had the greatest guy by my side. There are a million things that I love about Wes but I thought about 5 great things about him since its our 5 year anniversary.

He is such a hard worker and never gives up

A day of First's

On Friday we had a big day. Kason ate cereal for the first time and he went swimming for the first time too! He just loved his cereal. You should have seen him diving for the spoon. I couldn't get it to him fast enough. It was so adorable! Then we went swimming. Makenna had been asking forever to go so we went on Friday night. She was really timid and would get out of the water every five minutes to dry off. So I got her enrolled for lessons in two weeks. Kason on the other hand just loved it. He giggled and splashed and just had the time of his life. And we finally got our garden planted. This isn't our first garden but it was the first time Makenna helped with it. She was such a good helper. So all in all, it was a fun weekend!

Dance Recital

Saturday was Makenna's dance recital from the Dance Depot. She has loved every minute of dance class this year and was lucky enough to have her Grandma Southwick and Aunt Cali be her teachers. It has been such a great experience for her and she has learned so much. We are really grateful that she has had the chance to take dance from her grandma. And all I can say is she just has the cutest twist ever, but I can't seem to get the video to upload! It worked with Kason rolling over but now it won't load. Oh well, you'll just have to believe me when I say she was so cute out there on the stage!

3 Year Old Stats

I took Makenna to the doctors today for her 3 year old check up. She was a little confused because for the past year we have been either going to mommas doctor or Kason's doctor. She told me she wasn't sick and didn't know why she had to go. It was pretty cute. But here are her stats at age 3.

Height 37.5 in - 63%

Weight 28 lbs - 31%

BMI 14 - 11%

She's just staying kind of tall and slender. What a lucky girl.

And just on a side note, you really know how much a daddy loves his little girl when he is willing to walk the whole store of Home Depot in search for a lost pink purse. Makenna had taken her purse into the store with us tonight and put it down on a box and left it there. Weston is just the best dad and went back just to find it. (While he walked up and down every aisle for it, I went up to a customer service desk and asked for the lost and found and there it was.) We had one happy girl once we found it!

Makenna's Happy Birthday

Makenna refers to birthday's as Happy Birthdays. It is just the cutest. So yesterday she had the happiest birthday.

It started out by us going to lunch with Wes at McDonald's

Then we had "princess" mac and cheese for dinner. She was not happy at all about her pink dinner. We had to make her a new bowl that was yellow!

Then it was party time!

We invited all the cousins that are Makenna's age to come over for a party. We played "Musical Poison Apple" from Snow White, Cleaned like Cinderella, and colored princess pages. We also ate some yummy apples and dip. It was lots of fun and I think the kids had fun too.

The one thing she asked for, for her birthday was a slide. She was so excited to get it!

Makenna really wanted a Snow White cake for her birthday. It was tricky but I think it turned out pretty good in the end.

Makenna's Three!

Yesterday Makenna turned 3 years old. I just can't believe it! Three years has just flown by! It's just crazy how they grow up so fast. Well I just wanted to list a few things about her at this age.

She has been potty trained for almost a year now.
She has been potty trained at night for 2 months.
She loves mac n' cheese, pizza, chips, apples, "gapes" and "hock dogs"
She loves her little brother and is always sharing her dolls with him.
She loves to dance. If music is on, she is dancing.
She can do everything herself. Get dressed, go potty, get in her car seat. She is very independent.
She loves princesses and her favorite is "Nose White"
She loves to play outside.
She loves Curious George (or George the monkey to her). If you say curious in any sentence she can pick it out and say that's not Curious George.
She loves to go to nana and papa's house. She has three categories of grandparents: nana and papa taz, nana and papa chips, and nana and papa amy-shellie
She loves to go for walks to the park, read books and go to church
She loves to go to dance with her grandma and aunt Cali. We are starting gymnastics next month so hopefully she loves that too!
She has an imaginary friend named Davey who is a girl apparently.

Makenna is such a joy to have in our family. We love her so much and can't wait to see what this next year brings!

What an Imagination

Makenna has been so silly lately. She just comes up with the most random things. On their way home from church the other week Makenna had her fists balled up and Wes asked her what she had in them. Her response was "my friends." Like she was holding her friends hands. Well she is always pretend talking to them and bringing them in the car with us but yesterday one of them was given a name. Makenna's imaginary friend is named Davey. I have no clue where she came up with that but I just think it is so adorable! I don't ever remember having an imagination like her when I was younger and I just think this is wonderful. She is just so creative and imaginative. Oh and the monster's ate dinner with us tonight. Where does she come up with this stuff?

4 Months Old

Today Kason is 4 months old. I just can't believe how the time has flown by. He is getting so big. Last week he rolled over for the first time. He can roll from his stomach to his back in both directions now. I just can't believe it. Makenna never rolled so I didn't have to worry about her but now I'm going to have to be so careful with him on the couch. We took him to the doctors yesterday and here are his stats.

Weight 14.46 lbs 41.91%
Length 24.5 in 34.3%
Head 16 in 12.69%

So it looks like this guy might be a little shorty. Makenna was always on the tall side, so she took after her mom while Kason is taking after his dad.

Kason has been such a joy to have in our family. I just love him so much and he is so much fun. He just smiles and coo's all the time. I can even get him to giggle it is so adorable! And he just loves to watch Makenna and she just loves him so much. She is always sharing her pink blanket and her dolls with him. She is such a great big sister. Well I'll have to have Weston show me how to post a video so I can post Kason rolling over. He is just so cute!
