Help!

Okay so I just really enjoy summer time. The warm weather, the sun being outside, family time and basically everything about the summer time. But one thing I don't enjoy is the sun coming up earlier. Makenna is the best little sleeper and sleeps in almost every morning. So that means I get to sleep in or I can at least lay in bed and watch the morning news. But since the sun comes up earlier that means it wakes me up earlier. So every night I spend 10 minutes trying to block out the sun from sneaking into our bedroom windows. We have this really cute window seat that I love but I have got to do something with the windows!

So this is the cute window seat every morning.

And this is what it looks like at night all covered up.

So I went to Smiths market place today and found a curtain rod to go across in front of the window seat. But now I need some cute plain curtains that I can slide open and closed. The thing is they are so expensive and I'm afraid that if I have to buy material it might get really expensive to cover the whole window. So does anyone know where I can buy cheap curtains or cheap material so I can make some?

We have the same problem at our house. 1st we tinted the windows. It helps block the heat out and helps with the light a little. 2nd we bought a roll shade from lowes and installed it behing the blinds. This way we can pull it down at night and then pull it up during the day. 3rd. hang curtains that have black out curtain as the lining. (you may have to make them youself) They help so much. I have just this in one of my girls room and it does the trick. Good luck!

That's something that I would do! I finally have a DARK room. Our window is fairly small though. So I got ours at Walmart but Ikea has some okay priced ones and I've also seen some at Big Lots. I'm not a sewer so can't help you out there. Good luck!

I would say Ikea. They have some pretty inexpensive ones that come in one standard length. All you have to do to shorten them is iron the bottom and they just stick. Some sort of glue I guess. Anyway, that's what I'd do because I have no sewing talent! Good luck!
